Course Overview

This course provides direct support providers with the knowledge and practical tools to recognize and effectively respond to grooming as a disruptive sexual behavior. Participants will learn the warning signs of grooming, how it may present in individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and the underlying factors that influence these behaviors.

The training also examines the impact of grooming in home, school, vocational, and community settings. Emphasis is placed on identifying risk factors, distinguishing between appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, and using evidence-based assessment and prevention strategies.

By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to implement proactive and responsive, person-centered, trauma-informed approaches that promote safety, dignity, and healthy social development.
