Course Overview

This training focuses on the HCBS Federal Requirements (FR1–FR10) and how staff can apply them in daily service delivery in ways that are clear, observable, and audit-ready. Participants will learn what auditors typically look for, how federal requirements translate into real-world compliance practices, and how documentation, staff actions, and the home environment work together to demonstrate person-centered care.

The course explains how each federal requirement is reflected in audit expectations and shows practical ways facilities can meet those expectations through daily routines, respectful support, and consistent documentation. Emphasis is placed on supporting choice, privacy, community participation, independence, and dignity, while using HCBS-aligned language in notes and interactions.

By the end of the training, staff will better understand their role in compliance, how federal requirements connect directly to audit reviews, and how everyday service delivery serves as evidence of HCBS implementation.
